You Can Make Money With Party Planning

Party Planning

Party Planning

In a perfect example of how “everything old is new again”, the party planning that was a staple of most of our youth has made a dramatic comeback in recent years – and you could earn some extra money by getting involved. If you are one of those people who just loves to plan get-togethers and parties of all kinds, have you considered the money making opportunities inherent in hosting a party that makes products available to others?

You may be thinking, “But I can’t sell anything”, and you would be so wrong. As innumerable people have discovered over the many decades since party planning was first developed, just gathering a group of like minded people together for a party selling Tupperware, lingerie, or cleaning products is usually all it takes to start the buying frenzy.

Of course, you do need to be sociable, and it does help if you know at least a few people, but you can also leave flyers at the local salon and in other places that attract the type of clients you would prefer to see at your hosted event.

Just remember that it is important that you host a party for products that you actually use and have some familiarity with, as attendees are invariably going to ask your opinion on certain products. The best part of that, however, is that most of those who attend will automatically view you not as a salesperson, but as an expert on the product.

That is the primary way in which products at a hosted party sell themselves. Just by engaging your guests in conversations about the various products, you lend the products a portion of your own credibility and thus enhance the interest of anyone who is considering a purchase. No hard sells and no high pressure sales tactics.

What Business Does Well in a Recession?

We have all been burdened by the Recession News. Every type of media touts the damage to the market and joblessness. You might have considered self employment, but want to know what business does well in a recession or better yet, what business does well in This Recession?

The writing is on the wall, all is lost; right? Of course not. The recession is kind of like a controlled forest fire. A controlled forest fire is used to clean out the old and make room for the new. The new comes back stronger and with more life. This is not the first time in our countries history we have taken a break for a change, nor will it be the last. We should be happy to find the changes in our economy because those that take advantage of the times, will come out of this era with a new attitude and a new look.

I spoke to a the new owner of a z pizza franchise last week and I asked him how it was going. He says they are having the best start of any franchisee in his business. He is doing well and is hiring the best employees he has ever seen. That doesn’t necessarily mean that z pizza is the choice for you, but the message is in his comments.

What businesses work in this recession? Here is the answer:

  1. The business you like
  2. The business you have capital for
  3. The business that offers the public what they want
  4. The business that the Owners have the best attitude and look for the positive

My personal favorite is the stay at home, work from home make your own hours business. These type of businesses are growing like wild fire. (Or a controlled burn). The Internet is here to stay and growing. I still remember a gentleman coming to me and asking me to join him in selling a new type of business machine. He explained to me that it sent letters through the telephone line. I explained to him that there was no way anyone would use that! I asked him what it was called, and he answered the facsimile machine.

Opportunity is here and now. You only need to take a few short steps to achieve success in business. I have a great online business to share with you, or if you prefer a traditional business give one a try.

Writing a Good Business Plan Takes Time

Any software, book, or course which promises the secret to writing a business plan in one day or even one week must be considered warily. The truth is that writing a good business plan takes a great deal of time, both in actual hours that must be put into it and the weeks over which the process must be spread.

Preparation is Most of the Work

The preparation, research, and planning which leads up to the actual writing of the plan constitutes most of the time required to create a business plan. Planning and strategizing cannot simply be done in a day or even a few days. Not only is it important to get feedback from advisors or other trusted parties, which can take time, but the entrepreneur himself must let the plan ruminate a bit in order to uncover aspects he may have missed or thought about incorrectly previously.

Research Time

Research for the business plan may be the most time intensive element of this preparation. Research should, ideally, be more than secondary sources such as articles, blogs, and industry reports. Primary sources, including interviews, surveys, or focus groups with customers, vendors, and competitors, are very important and more persuasive. Developing data from these types of sources takes a good deal of time. Even information in secondary sources must be pored through carefully to find the nuggets of interest for the business plan. Finally, research into the costs of the business can require calls and even negotiations with vendors to learn about rates and volume discounts. There is no easy shortcut for this type of direct research, which can make launching a much easier process if this legwork has been carefully documented.

Writing Time

Finally, the writing cannot be rushed, as convincing prose does not generally flow under intense time pressure. Time must be given to allow for the writing and then revision of the plan itself. Finally, time should be allowed for proofreading by qualified individuals other than the entrepreneur. This is the only sure way to spot mistakes in the plan at this late stage.
